Professor Matthew Hotopf CBE - Co-chair
Matthew Hotopf is Executive Dean at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King's College London, and a Professor of General Hospital Psychiatry. A consultant liaison psychiatrist, he served as Director of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre from 2014 to 2023.
Matthew's research explores the relationship between mental and physical health, drawing on epidemiological methods and mobile health technologies. He has chaired the NIHR's Translational Research Collaboration in Mental Health and led the IoPPN's return to the Research Excellence Framework 2021. His contribution to psychiatric research was recognised with a CBE in 2018, and he is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
